Social responsibility in the way we operate

At MK we value our responsibility as a company towards society and nature.

That’s why we have implemented various measures to ensure we operate in a manner that’s sustainable and sensitive to the needs of people and the environment.

Sustainable use of resources

Paper

We print on recycled paper when we need to work with physical copies of documents, then dispose of it securely and sustainably to be recycled again. Our team has put in a lot of effort to transition to a paperless office, which uses digital files over printed material wherever possible.

Lights

We use energy-efficient LED lights in our office that not only have cut down our lighting costs by 60%, but also significantly reduced our carbon footprint on the environment.

Air conditioning

We use modern, efficient climate control technology in our offices that uses heat to generate cool air to keep our office spaces comfortable.

Exercise

We encourage our staff improve their health through light exercise, such as using the stairs instead of taking the lift. This also reduces the energy load on our building.

Handling pro bono cases

Every year, we take on a limited number of pro bono cases on behalf of clients who cannot afford to pay for legal expenses only by themselves. These cases are chosen by our selection committee, through a rigorous process that assesses the merits of each case individually.

It is our belief that by working on cases pro bono, we are giving back to society by helping others that are in need.

Organising voluntary work in the community

At MK, we aim to organise at least one team event every year where all our team members have the opportunity to work together to achieve one goal. These team activities typically involve cleaning up a certain locality or public space in Malta, doing missionary work, planting flowers and much more.
