Malta Tax Regime

Eligibility for Fast Track Permanent Resident Permit
To be eligible for Fast Track Permanent Residence, applicants need to fulfil a number of legal criteria, including:
- A clear criminal record
- Purchase of new immovable property with a value of at least €300,000 (excluding VAT)
- Fixed deposit of €30,000 in a bank account in Malta pledged for 3 years
- Annual income of €30,000 minimum including €5,000 per dependent and €8,000 per parent and parent-in-law.
- Declaration that the applicant will not engage in any business in Malta other than owning a company
Eligibility for Long Term Residency
Long Term Residency status is granted to all non-EU nationals that have resided in Malta for over 5 years, with the condition that they have not been absent from the country for more than 6 consecutive months or 10 cumulative months within the 5-year period.
Entitlement of Family Members
Maltese Residency programmes, including Fast Track application and fulfilment of the Long Term Residency criteria, grants the status of Resident to:
- The Investor
- The spouse or partner of the investor
- The parents of the investor
- Offspring of the investor including minors and financially dependent adult children up to the age of 28
Furthermore, ascendants and second line relatives of residents can reside in Malta on the basis of a three-month visa or an annually renewable one-year temporary permit.
